Equipment Features

  • The flying probe PCB tester consists of four probing mechanisms. Each of them is composed by a 3 axes X, Y Z table. The X and Y axes are servo controlled while the Z or the probing axis is controlled by a stepper. A pair of probes along with the trace on PCB form a test path. When being probed, an electric testing module will perform electrical characteristic test such as open/ short and impedance to examine the integrity of the PCB. The two-pair mechanism design will double the productivity with appropriate testing path arrangement.
  • The tester has a 460x610mm testing area and is able to test PCB with thickness ranging 0.5~7mm with minimum pad size as 80µm and distance as 150µm.
  • The high-speed, accurate positioning of the servo axes achieves the high test performance while careful speed control of the stepping axes effectively decreases the witness marks. The probe pressure ranges 3~40g and the retraction distance ranges 2~9mm.
  • The path of the two pairs of probing mechanisms are planned by a proprietary CAD/CAM software residing on the Windows based Controls, based on its optimum analyses on the Gerber file of the tested PCB.

Controls Features

  • The 12 axes motion system (4 independent XYZ axes mechanism) is implemented as a 4 independent coordinates and 3 simultaneous axes in each coordinate.
  • The high-speed control of the tester performs about 200 times of averagely 5mm round-trip movement of all four probing mechanisms in a 20 secs time period. It maintains positioning accuracy within 5µm. The S curve ACC/DCC effectively decreases the vibration of the structure as well as the witness marks on PCB due to probe contacts.
  • Man machine interface for motion control and I/O processing are provided with high flexibility and ease of use. Enjoying the open architecture of Windows programming, it integrates a 3rd party CAD/CAM execution software for PCB industry and thus drastically reduce the complexity from a multiple computer system architecture to a single controls.
